Highway Access
Clear Lake Park. Access to the Big Muddy Badlands, located in southern Saskatchewan and northern Montana. The badlands are found along Big Muddy Creek in the Big Muddy Valley, a 55-km cleft (35 miles) long, 3.2-kilometre wide, and 160 metres (500 ft) deep valley of erosion and sandstone. In the 19th and early 20th century, the Badlands formed the northern end of the Outlaw Trail. This is a series of trails and stopping areas used by outlaws in the American West. Outlaws who moved into the Big Muddy included Dutch Henry and his brother Coyote Pete, Sam Kelly, the Pigeon-Toed Kid, and others. The notorious Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were also in this area.
