Junction of Highway #21, south to Maple Creek, SK, all services, 10 km's south. Access to Fort Walsh National Historic Site, a former North West Mounted Police/Royal Canadian Mounted Police post (circa 1878-83). This was later used from 1942-68 to breed horses for the force and the Musical Ride. Take a guided tour of the fort's buildings, two cemeteries, the Fort Walsh townsite, and a reconstructed whiskey trading post. Use the self-guided trails to explore the ridge along Battle Creek and view exhibits in the Visitor Reception Centre.

North access 2 km to the Historic Bell Barn Interpretive Center, SK. 125 years ago the Bell Farm was established on the northern edge of the Great Plains of North America. This farming experiment was supported by the federal government of Canada. At that time it was called the Qu'Appelle Valley Farming Company. Started in 1882, and in a year's time over 100 buildings were constructed on the farm. The farm included over 332 quarter sections of land, or 53,000 acres. (Photo: Frank Korvemaker)
