Kamas, Utah
Kamas, Utah is known as The Gateway to the Uintas. Fishing, camping, hiking, mountain climbing and other outdoor recreational activities are popular among locals and tourists. This is where Mirror Lake Scenic Byway Utah-Section starts from, which starts climbing up through rugged mountain peaks, pine-covered terrain, and lush pastures. This high mountain road is lined with campgrounds, scenic viewpoints, picnic areas, and mountain lakes. The Provo River, best known for being a blue-ribbon trout stream, runs alongside much of the byway. Having climbed a height of 10,687 feet at Bald Mountain Pass, the byway affords spectacular views of the Uinta Mountains where visitors can go mountain biking, camping, true back-country wilderness mountaineering, fishing, and hiking. The road then goes back down passing the picture-perfect Mirror Lake.
