The centerpiece of the recreation area is Flaming Gorge Reservoir, a reservoir created by the Flaming Gorge Dam along the Green River in 1964. Recreational activities in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir include fishing, hiking, boating, and camping. Rafting downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam on a section of the Green River is available. Flaming Gorge Dam is used to generate hydroelectric power. |
