Crossing the Otonabee River(The Trent Severn Waterway System). The Trent-Severn Waterway is a Canadian National Historic Site canal system. The waterway is 386 km, in length, starting at Trenton, Ontario, continuing with roughly 32 km of man-made channels. The cannel system has 44 locks, 36 conventional locks, two sets of flight locks, with hydraulic lift locks at Peterborough and Kirkfield, Ontario. The canel system also has 39 swing bridges and 160 dams and structures that manage the water levels used for flood control. |
