It also features archaelogical ruins of Fort Dorchester, an abandoned lime kiln, and an old farmstead.

    St. Peters Canal National Historic Site
    Community of St. Peters. St. Peters Canal is an 800 metre canal linking the Atlantic Ocean with Bras d'Or Lake. Work started on the canal in 1854 and was completed in 1869. The canal also boasts the only functioning lock system in Nova Scotia. View interpretive exhibits, enjoy a picnic lunch, or experience the canal by pleasure craft.
